Living Positive Resource Centre has been the official agency within the Interior Health Region responsible for support and education services regarding HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis C and other blood-borne pathogens since 1992. We work from a client-centered self-empowered model and we provide service in all communities from Enderby to Osoyoos to Princeton.
To lower the incidence of new HIV infections and improve the quality of life for those infected or affected, we have developed a number of approaches to increase general awareness of HIV and AIDS in the communities we serve. The Okanagan Family AIDS Walk is one of them. The AIDS Walk is a national event that is held every year across Canada, however, the Okanagan Family AIDS Walk raises funds that stay in the Okanagan region to support programs that work towards ensuring the health and quality of life for our clients. The money raised helps to continue public education programs which focus on prevention and awareness here at home. On September 21, 2008 Living Positive Resource Centre will be hosting the 12th Annual Okanagan Family AIDS Walk in partnership with the Okanagan Aboriginal AIDS Society and the North Okanagan Youth and Family Services Society. It is your opportunity to be part of this huge event! Join us for a 3km walk along Kelowna's waterfront, from Waterfront Park to City Park and back again.
