Penticton chosen for Main Street Matters project

Penticton has been listed among the top 20 downtowns in North America to receive revitalization support from Benjamin Moore, as part of their Main Street Matters project.

The city's downtown was among the 100 communities in the running for the Benjamin Moore Main Street Matters project, a cross continent-initiative to  revitalize communities.

"This proves how important downtown revitalization is to the community and is a great example of what we can do when we work together," said Acting Mayor Garry Litke, at a council meeting, covering other matters early Monday.

During the process, consumers around the country were invited to cast their vote online for which 20 Main Streets should be revitalized from the 100 nominated. People were invited to vote each day from May 16 to June 30.

Benjamin Moore has indicated it will be working with each town over the next year. It will further enlist the help of local retailers and painting contractors.
