Tim's sends kids to camp

Tim Hortons Camp Day was in full swing at the Westminster Avenue location in Penticton on Wednesday.

Camp day is the one day each year when every penny from coffee sales at Tim Hortons stores across Canada and the United States is donated to the Tim Horton Children's Foundation.

"This is very good. A nice and busy, happy camp day," said manager T.J. Toor.

On the day, customers have the opportunity to buy a coffee and help send more than 13,000 kids on camping adventures.

Youngsters, ages 9 to 12, attend a 10 day summer camp session, or a seven day winter camp session, at one of the foundation's six camps.

The children who attend are selected by Tim Hortons store owners, who work closely with local youth organizations and schools to identify kids who would most benefit from the experience.

During their stays, kids participate in a wide range of programs and activities designed to build self-confidence, self-esteem and leadership skills.
