Custom cars cruise for cancer cause

Wheels for a Cure Society is prepared for a wheel of a good time at its 3rd annual event this weekend.

The purpose is to promote awareness of and raise funds for Prostate Cancer. The money raised will be put towards research, information, support and financial assistance for the Canadian Cancer Society Southern Interior Rotary Lodge, located beside Kelowna General Hospital.

2013’s event is a two day road tour that travels through a variety of Okanagan communities, with stops along the way.

The Wheels for a Cure press releases states, "We can announce we will be stopping on Saturday at the 7/11 parking lot in Armstrong and at the Jammery Parking Lot in Lake country. You can also see us on Sunday, as we stop at the Westbank Lordco (2484 Main St # 1 right side of Main St) for a "mini" show and shine. The Westbank Legion {* 6 2525 Dobbin Rd left hand side of main St) hosted by the Ladies Auxiliary will have pancakes for hungry drivers and spectators."

The tour then makes a stop at the A&W in Peachland with a special sock hop theme, before heading off to the Kettle Valley Steam Train station in Summerland for a final mini show on the Sunday. Vehicles will be show standard and will be attending from different areas of Western Canada.

Registration is only $50 for your classic vehicle to join in the fun and raise funds for a good cause. You can get your registrations on-line.

On Saturday May 3 there is a Dinner and Dance Event at the Rutland Centennial Hall featuring celebrated Okanagan band The Goods. Tickets for the dinner and dance are $35 each or $60 per couple, these are also available to purchase on the website.
