Perhaps …one of Canada’s greatest singers! and she is back! Sass Jordan has returned with a brand new album and band project. Sass has surrounded herself with some heavyweights…Brian Tichy, whom played with Sass on her RATS album from the middle ‘90’s has collaborated with Ms. Jordan on her new album. He not only plays guitar, and drums on the record, but has co-written with Sass. The result? A back to the roots type excursion,
‘S.U.N.’ is Sass at her rockin’ best. A very strong bluesy rock record that means business! The live band is: veteran bassist Michael Devin, and Tommy Stewart on skins, with Brian on guitar—creating the ‘S.U.N.’ experience. And what an experience it is, not since RATS, has Sass rocked this hard. This is an all out hard rock experience, with perhaps the strongest set of songs this First Lady of Canadian Rock has delivered! There are thirteen tracks for us to immerse ourselves in, and experience firsthand the rejuvenation of this whiskey throated siren!
Now, when looking for this album, look under the ‘S’ section, as it is certainly a band project. “S.U.N.”, is the name, and pure R.O.C.K. is the game!
As we know, Brian Tichy did service for Whitesnake, and of course David Coverdale is experiencing resurgence in his own right. His current guitarist, Doug Aldridge has also returned to his band, “Burning Rain”, doing double duty! In the late nineties, Doug teamed up with Vocalist Keith St. John, and formed a heavy melodic rock ensemble that released two albums. The self titled debut in 1999, and at the turn of the century, “Pleasure To Burn”. Both albums received rave reviews with “Pleasure To Burn” containing what would become the group’s signature “Judgement Day”. A year later, (2001), Doug joined up with Ronnie James Dio in ‘Dio’, while Keith started to sing with Ronnie Montrose. After leaving ‘Dio’, Doug joined up with David Coverdale’s reformed Whitesnake, where he is still the front guitarist. The two musicians’ paths have crossed again, and the planned third album has been finally realised! “Epic Obsession” being released worldwide in May, finds Doug and Keith together again, delivering that Hard-rock, ‘funked up’ yet Melodic musical trip once again! Released through Frontiers Records, this brand new effort will be joined by re-mastered, and re-issues of the groups’ first two albums. “Burning Rain” will also endeavour some live shows, in between the ‘Whitesnake’ tours.
