Provincial roads in the Okanagan-Shuswap will soon be maintained by JPW Road and Bridge Inc., who recently purchased the assets of Argo Road Maintenance in the area.

That means the communities of Vernon, Armstrong, Spallumcheen, Falkland, Enderby, Salmon Arm and Sicamous will have a new road crew in place starting on March 29.

All of Argo’s unionized staff in the service area – represented by the BC Government and Service Employees’ Union – will be offered jobs with the new maintenance contractor. And their rights of seniority and benefits from their current contract stay the same.

Argo will also continue to maintain the roads and bridges in the service areas of the Thompson and South Okanagan.

JPW Road and Bridge Inc.’s contract for Okanagan-Shuswap expires on March 28, 2019.
