A vehicle stopped by police in Penticton led to the arrest of two people for drug offences as well as the execution of a search warrant at a home where a loaded firearm was found.

A 44-year-old woman from Penticton and a 34-year-old man from Naramta were arrested after officers stopped their vehicle on Nanaimo Avenue on March 13.

Following the vehicle stop a search warrant was executed at a house in the 700 block of Argyle Street in Penticton.

According to Cpl. Brad Myhre police discovered quantities of methamphetamine, marijuana, drug trafficking paraphernalia and a loaded rifle.

Cori Ann Mitchell faces charges of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marijuana, unsafe storage of a firearm and possession of a firearm while prohibited from doing so.

"Mitchell was released from court on bail. She has previous drug trafficking convictions from both Penticton and Kelowna," says Myhre.

The man who was arrested was released shortly thereafter and faces a single charge of possession of methamphetamine. He also has a previous conviction for drug trafficking in Penticton.
