Suspect barricades self, then flees

West Kelowna RCMP responded to a complaint of assault against a female in the 2000 block of Hwy 97S, in West Kelowna late Saturday night.
Upon arrival, an adult intoxicated female reported that she had been assaulted by a male and when RCMP members attempted to arrest the suspect, he ran back inside the residence and barricaded the door.
RCMP set up a containment of the home and attempted to establish communications with the suspect but later learned that he had fled out the back door of the residence.
The suspect is known to police and the investigation is ongoing.
