Another fire has damaged a home in Coldstream.
It began around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday night in the kitchen at 7409 Priest Valley Drive.
Heavy black smoke was seen at the rear of the building when fire crews arrived, with flames visible from the outside.
“We made an interior attack and there was heavy smoke conditions, approximately to the level of the door handle,” says Coldstream Fire Chief Shane Code.
“The fire seems to have originated in the kitchen and a lot of the damage has been contained to the back of the building and the kitchen itself.“
The split-level home has been salvaged and is structurally sound but major renovations will need to take place due to heavy smoke damage.
Two people were home at the time and managed to escape.
Fire investigators are on scene this morning in an attempt to narrow down the cause.
