Health unit evacuated after bomb threat
The health unit at 740 Carmi Avenue was evacuated Thursday morning after someone called in a bomb threat to that location.
Police say a woman called the health unit about 8:30 a.m. and claimed there was a bomb set to go off inside.
The health unit was evacuated and traffic around the area re-routed.
"Penticton RCMP quickly followed up on the call and identified and located the elderly female caller," says Sgt. Rick Dellebuur.
"It was learned that the caller was disgruntled that an appointment had been changed and thus called and made the bomb threat."
Dellebuur says operations at the health unit and the surrounding area are returning to normal.
"Penticton RCMP are following up on the incident and it is not known at this time if charges will be laid."
