The Rotary International Children's Festival will not take place this year, but there is hope it will return to Penticton in 2014.
Conrad Burek, Executive director for the annual event, is resigning and without enough time to hire a replacement before the festival, which was scheduled for May, the board has decided that it will have to take a hiatus.
"It had nothing to do with the administration or the festival board, it was just his own choice," said event chair Jason Cox.
The festival attracts performers from around the world and was scheduled to take place May 23 to 25 at Okanagan Lake Park. Last year, the event drew over 10,000 people from 20 municipalities.
