Murder/suicide vics identified
Two dead in Vernon
11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 5 -
RCMP are confirming the deaths of two people at a home along Hartnell Road is the result of a murder/suicide.
Spokesman Gord Molendyk, says 29-year-old Sheena Neifer and 30-year-old Gregory Neifer, died as a result of gunshot wounds. He also confirms a marijuana grow-op was discovered and dismantled on the property.
Police assure the public at no time was there any danger to anyone else in the neighbouring area.

4:30 p.m. update: Neighbours tell Castanet.net they are shocked about the two deaths on Hartnell Rd., they say the family had just moved into the home.
One person says someone in the home told him they were on medicinal marijuana. There was an electrician on location Monday morning helping the RCMP; this usually indicates a grow-operation of some kind was found on the premise.
RCMP say two adults have been found dead in a house in Vernon on Hartnell Rd.
Spokesperson for the Vernon RCMP Gordon Molendyk, says, "Our first responding officers assisted two children and the adult relative out of the home to a vehicle. None of these three were harmed in this event."
The South East District Major Crimes Unit was called in to assist in this investigation. Working with the BC Coroners Service on this investigation, they continue to work on it and are treating the deaths of the two people inside the residence as suspicious.
The names are not being released at this time as police work to notify family and continue to investigate this tragic event.
The investigating officers are asking anyone who might have heard shots being fired on Hartnell Rd. late last night or early this morning to please call the Vernon RCMP office at 250-545-7171.
Unconfirmed reports suggest if might be a murder suicide.
