The power of words

Words have great a effect on our dreams and goals and most often are not given the consideration they deserve. There are many mediums where words can play a role in our lives and I would like to touch on the ones that carry the most weight in our daily lives.

  1. The words we tell ourselves. How do we speak to ourselves? Are we our own inner champion or are constantly speaking words that ultimately dis-empower us? It is vital to be more conscious of what we say and how we say it when it comes to self-talk. Our words to ourselves should be filled with love, compassion and support. If we can’t do this for ourselves then how can we expect others to do this for us?

  1. The words we say to others. There are two parts to this one, first are the promises we make to others or in other words our verbal commitments and the second is the words we say to and about others. Are we positive and kind or are we critical and judgemental? Keeping our word to others is vital to our sense of self-esteem and confidence. It paves the way for us to stay with integrity and live as trustworthy individuals. This can only serve to enhance any other efforts made to create your dreams and goals. When we speak to or about others our words not only affect them but they also have the greater effect on ourselves. The saying that when you point a finger at another person there are three pointing back at you is very true. When you criticize and judge others you are ultimately doing the same to yourself. On the other hand when you are kind, supportive and thoughtful in your words to others you are again, doing the same for yourself. Focus on the good in others and you will bring you out the best in you.

  1. The words we hear and read. We can always choose our friends. We can also choose what we want to watch on TV or what newspapers and books we want to read. Just for the sake of manifesting your ideal 2013 I would like to suggest that you choose, for a period of a few months, to surround yourself with words that will uplift, inspire and motivate you. Words that help you to know that there is no circumstance or economy that you cannot individually rise above when you are not tied in to the negative collective consciousness that surrounds and contributes to these situations.

We are very powerful creators; and it really does start with words. Our creativity is enhanced through the use of words that are kind, loving and thoughtful. And it does start with how we speak to ourselves.

My challenge to you: Just for today.... allow every word you speak to yourself, others and every word you choose to listen to be ones that will support your dreams.
