Elementary schools making the grade
The Fraser Institute's annual report ranking all 853 elementary schools in BC has been released.
And, as has been the case for several years, private schools continue to dominate the top of the rankings list.
The latest report for the 2011-2012 school year shows 12 schools with a perfect 10.0 rating. All are in the Lower Mainland - 11 are independent private schools.
The lone public school to receive a perfect rating is West Bay Elementary in West Vancouver.
The Fraser Institute reaches its conclusions using what it calls Foundation Skills Assessment results for students in grades four and seven.
Testing is done on reading, writing and numeracy.
Two schools within the Okanagan region cracked the top 100.
Kelowna Christian School came in at number 50 while King's Christian in Salmon Arm ranked 93rd.
