Vernon crash victim identified
UPDATE 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 5 - The BC Coroners Service has identified the man killed in a single vehicle crash on Old Kamloops Road Sunday evening.The victim is identified as 33-year-old Tyrone Nicholas Turnbull of Vernon.
Turnbull was the lone occupant of a vehicle that left the road, rolled and crashed.
RCMP in Vernon are investigating the city's first motor vehicle fatality of the year.
Police say a 33-year-old Vernon man died as a result of injuries suffered in a single vehicle collision in the 5600 block of Old Kamloops Road about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
Spokesman, Gord Molendyk, says police determined the driver had been thrown from his vehicle upon impact.
He was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The victim was the lone occupant of the vehicle.
Police and the coroner are investigating the cause of the crash, however, Molendyk says early indications point to speed and alcohol being likely contributing factors.
The man's name has not yet been released.
