Education Week theme announced

This year’s Education Week theme “21st Century Learners Celebrating Public Education” captures the spirit of learning within the Central Okanagan School District.

Education Week is an opportunity to share this spirit with the community. From March 4 to 8, students will be displaying their artwork, singing, dancing, acting, showcasing athletic ability, creating scientific marvels and more.

Canadian award-winning author Eric Walters will be presenting to approximately 5,000 students at their schools during Education Week.

The Kelowna Art Gallery will be hosting their Art in Action event on Thursday, March 28 at 7:00 pm.

ROTARY CENTRE FOR THE ARTS LUNCHTIME PERFORMANCES:

  • Tuesday, March 5 12:00 noon Rutland Middle School
  • Wednesday, March 6 12:00 noon Bankhead Elementary School
  • Wednesday, March 6 12:30 pm Bankhead Elementary School
  • Friday, March 8 12:30 pm Helen Gorman Elementary School

STUDENT ARTWORK DISPLAYS:

  • Rotary Centre for the Arts
  • Kelowna City Hall
  • Lake Country City Hall
  • Okanagan Regional Library Branches: Kelowna, the Mission, Rutland, and West Kelowna

STUDENT EVENTS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC:

The following are some of the events that are open to the public during Education Week. Community members may also check with their local schools for other activities taking place during March 4 – 8, as well as other school celebrations that will be happening between now and the end of the year.

Monday March 4

  • 10:00 am Hudson Road Elementary School - East Coast Fiddler, Gordon Stobbe
  • 11:00 am North Glenmore Elementary School - Grade 6 students hosting Japanese luncheon

Tuesday March 5

  • 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Central School - Retired Teachers’ Association’s Open House in Heritage Classroom
