CRIME: THEFT FROM MAILBOXES

DATE: February 8, 2013

RCMP FILE: 2013-5949, etc.

There have been several reports of thefts and mischief to mailboxes located in West Kelowna this month. On February 8 a citizen reported that the super mail boxes at Horizon Drive and Pinewood Place were broken into and had been moved to the intersection about 50 metres away. Four doors were pried open. On February 10 the RCMP were told that the mailboxes at McDougall Road and Stevens Road had been hit and doors pried open. On February 11 it was reported that another mailbox on the 2400 block of McDougall Road had 11 doors pried open.

CRIME: BREAK, ENTER AND THEFT

RCMP FILE: 2013-6468

West Kelowna RCMP were called to a home on the 1100 block of Caledonia Way in West Kelowna on February 11, 2013. The residents returned home from a week-end away to discover that their home had been broken into. Suspects left behind a one-foot black pry-bar that they had used to break open the front door. The thieves ripped apart the bedrooms, overturning drawers from the dresser and desk and scattering closet items. They left with jewellery and a safe.
