Letters to the editor
In support of Diesel
Feb 26, 2013 / 9:02 pm
Dear Editor:
I have been following the story about Diesel the $100,000 dollar dog for awhile now. And I am just totally appalled with the whole thing, yes this case may have cost the tax-payers a lot of money but if the RDCO would not have seized the dog in the first place it would not of come to this.
The RDCO is so concerned about cruelty to animals, well what are they doing to this dog, he has been in (jail) for two years now over what is vindictive. The only reason Diesel went after that other dog was because he was defending himself just like all dogs do. And if you call slobbering on a child considered going after him/her then I don't know what is.
Also for the judge in this case did not allow new evidence is not right either. The owner of the dog has done everything in his power to see Diesel once a week or so for half hour and never gave up. Now there is an order to have a private adoption out of the Regional district of Diesel which is not fair, the owner should have a say on where his boy goes and with whom.
For all we know the new owners could abuse him or whatever or Diesel could run away. All this dog knows is his owner and for him to go to a strange home will just make him sick, dogs have feelings too.
And then I heard that another dog bit someone and they got stitches, and all that dog got was a few months in the pound and then released back to the owner where is the justice there.
Yours truly
Sonja Butler
