Council goes pink for the cause

Kelowna City Council made a statement Monday that had nothing to do with bylaws, developments or city policy.

Dressed in pink t-shirts, Councillors came to the table Monday afternoon unified in its message, "Bullying Stops Here."

The shirts commemorate Anti-Bullying Day in Canada Wednesday, Feb. 27.

"We are very, very supportive of this particular day and, we hope society is finally getting the message that bullying is very traumatic for the victims of bullying and it's time society paid attention and did something about it," stated Mayor Walter Gray.

"While it's a small part to play, council is here today to support the anit-bullying campaign and to take a stand on it."

Councillors wore the shirts throughout the meeting.
