Scott moves on to Scotties playoffs

Kelowna's Kelly Scott accomplished what she wanted through the round robin portion of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Kingston, ON.

She qualified for the playoffs.

Scott now gets a shot at redemption when she takes on defending champion Heather Nedohin in Saturday's sudden death quarter-final.

It was Nedohin who denied Scott a third national title a year ago, beating the Kelowna foursome in last year's title game.

Scott (8-3) secured third spot and last rock advantage to open the quarter-final with a 9-5 victory over Quebec in the final round-robin game Friday evening while Nedohin (7-4) fell 6-5 to Ontario.

The two rinks enter the quarter-final heading in opposite directions.

After struggling early, Scott has won five in a row while Nedohin, who looked unbeatable early in the week, limps in after going 1-4 over the final three days.

Scott's last loss was a 7-5 defeat at the hands of Nedohin Tuesday night.

Manitoba's Jennifer Jones rolled through round robin a perfect 11-0, the first skip to accomplish the feat since Linda Moore did it 28 years ago.

Jones will take on Ontario in Saturday night's one-two playoff game.

The winner of that game will advance straight to the final while the loser will battle with winner of the Scott-Nedohin game in Sunday's morning's semi-final.
