A memorial service open to the public will be held at Emmanuel Church in West Kelowna this Friday for local resident Teresa Boucher.
Teresa was killed February 3 while trying to help an injured motorist on Hwy 97.
She and her husband, Wayne Hill, were driving to the coast in their semi when another driver lost control of her vehicle and slammed into Wayne and his bride of only four months. The totaled vehicle came to rest at the side of the highway and Wayne and his wife pulled over and rushed to check on the driver and passenger.
A male was pinned in the passenger seat, and as Teresa went to get blankets, a second accident occurred and Teresa was struck and killed.
"She gave her life doing what she has always done," said Wayne, "helping others."
"Anyone who has ever been to Zellers or Walmart (in West Kelowna) knows her."
Teresa, who was only 54 years-old, was a greeter at Walmart and was much loved by her co-workers.
"She is very missed," said Wayne, "not only by myself and her family, but by everyone who knew her or worked with her."
"My life will never be the same."
The memorial service will take place Friday, February 15 at 1:30 PM at Emmanuel Church in West Kelowna.
