This Monday will be the first time that British Columbia celebrates "Family Day", a national holiday devoted to the importance of families and family life
Events are scheduled across the country and many stores will be closed for the day.
Penticton residents are invited to celebrate Family Day by getting fit at the community centre or taking some runs at Apex Mountain Resort.
Swimming at the Parkinson recreation centre in Kelowna is free to the public.
Tourism BC recommends visits to parks and beaches throughout the province. In the South Okanagan, they suggest stopping by the Nk'Mip Desert Cultural Centre in Osoyoos.
