18 members of Vernon Search and Rescue responded to the request of the RCMP to assist in the rescue of 2 snowmobilers in the Beauleu Lake area on the west side of Okanagan Lake.
The couple, in their 60’s, had driven their truck up Beauleu Lake Road until they couldn’t go any farther, unloaded their snowmobile and set off for their cabin at the lake. When the starter rope on the snowmobile broke they were forced to set out on foot back to their vehicle.
When the exhausted and cold couple was located by Search and Rescue members on snowmobiles, the couple had trudged approximately 11 kilometers through the deep snow. They were taken to the search base camp for evaluation prior to heading home in their truck.
