Armed suspect sought in Chilliwack

Chilliwack police were called to two armed robberies on Sunday, Jan. 27. The first happened just outside the Young Street Market at approximately 2 p.m., when a male suspect approached the victim and asked for money. The man then produced what the victim believed to be a gun.

The second robbery occurred at the ATM machine in the Scotia Bank at 46059 Yale Road just after 11 p.m. The victim was withdrawing money from the machine when he was approached by a man demanding money, only this time assaulted the victim and again produced what the victim believed to be a firearm.

"These calls are a very big concern to us," said Cst. Tracy Wolbeck, in a release.

"Anytime an offence is committed with what a victim believes to be a firearm, it becomes a huge priority for us to identify and arrest the person involved."

Chilliwack RCMP believe the same suspect could be responsible for both robberies.

He is described as approximately 6’2, 160 pounds and between 35-50 years old. Reports say he had grey or blonde hair with grey facial hair.

In the Young Road robbery, the suspect was described as wearing a blue jacket with horizontal black stripes and in the ATM robbery, the suspect was described as wearing a blue and white or blue and yellow jacket.
