A Supreme Court Justice on Monday told the man accused of stabbing to death a Penticton teen that he needed to act quickly to get a trial date set this year.

Justice Alison Beames said the trial by jury for Jamie Wolanski  was expected to last 10 days and there were only two 10 day blocks in Supreme Court between now and the end of 2013.

An application for change of venue from Penticton to Kelowna must also be acted on in the near future.

If not that application would go into 2014 as well, said Beames.

Wolanski, who recently changed lawyers, appeared by video.

He is accused of stabbing 16-year-old Andrew McAdam  at a graduation bush party in the Carmi area in June of 2011.

His next court appearance on the murder case is set for Feb. 25.

A pre-trial conference on Wolanski’s breach of bail in June was set for Monday, but was held over to Feb. 6 for an arraignment hearing.
