The jury in the sex assault trial of a Calgary psychiatrist appears to have reached an impasse.

After three days of deliberations the jury sent a note to Justice Donna Shelley.

It said despite vigorous and lengthy deliberation they are unable to reach a verdict on any of the nine charges against Dr. Aubrey Levin.

Levin, 74, is accused of molesting nine male patients who were ordered to see him by the courts.

The allegations came out in 2010 after one individual secretly videotaped an examination in which Levin appeared to fondle him.

Justice Shelley said she favours having the jury retire for the night and try again Monday.
