Spring is just around the corner, oh! I know we have snow and cold weather, but the Robins are returning early and Kelowna’s own Fields Of Green are preparing for a cross country tour!...two sure signs of Spring!
The last time we touched base with these four Kelowna sons, they were busy writing and recording their second album. They have it ready, and an EP is being released in celebration of their upcoming Spring Tour. By the sounds of the material, ‘Fields Of Green’s’ style of progressive spacey rock has progressed to a most pleasing level. The lyrical content is both poignant and emotive, with a powerful melodic set of rhythms that dare to surround our senses. Each creation is memorable, no throw-aways here.
The group is sporting a new logo and a slightly more serious look. The EP? It will be available in stores on February 19th, with a show in Kelowna, to start their tour, on February 21st at the Kelowna Community Theatre. Get your tickets now, and send off the lads in style!
Rock n’ Roll Never Forgets, a phrase coined by the man himself; Bob Seger! And it doesn’t, this legendary singer/songwriter is about to hit the road. The “Rock n’ Roll Never Forgets” tour begins this Spring with several Canadian dates included. With Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, and Vancouver inked in; it certainly would be a wise investment to take in the show! Calgary is March 19th and Vancouver is March 27th, with none other than another American icon, Joe Walsh sharing the bill! Seeing both these Artists would be well worth the drive. Joe is promoting his new album “Analogue Man”, and of course, will be displaying his quirky and entertaining sense of humour during his set.
A couple weeks ago, I’d mentioned the upcoming new album from the veteran Danish five piece; “Pretty Maids”. Their last album “Pandemonium”, has made inroads across the globe…giving them, not only a ‘charting’ album, but a new lease on life. “Motherland” is about to be unleashed, with some dire messages for us all, here is the official video of “Mother Of All Lies” from ‘Pretty Maids’:
An adopted son of Kelowna, Paul Rodgers has a busy year in front of him. The soulful, blues singer is currently doing shows across Europe, and hopefully a new album will be released in late Spring.
Black Sabbath will tour prior to the release of their new album “13”. The dates so far published are in New Zealand, Australia, and Japan. Regarding their new album, the original three; Ozzy, Geezer, and Toni, were joined by ex Rage Against The Machine drummer: Brad Wilk. “13” marks the first studio album recorded by the group since the late seventies.
Next week, we will look at the career of Singer/Songwriter Chris Burke-Gaffney, a very gifted Singer/Songwriter from Western Canada:
