One man has been taken to hospital on a stretcher after being hit over the head with an unknown object at 750 Burne Avenue.
Kelowna RCMP are looking for two male suspects who were seen covered in blood and leaving the residence. A neighbor at the scene says they saw a man covered in blood and carrying a knife.
Another female has been taken into custody but it is not yet known what role she may have played in the incident.
“It’s always been a problem in the basement suite as of lately, but prior the house used to be a rooming house. But right now upstairs is a single mom who is probably fearing for her life at times with what is going on downstairs,” says Edith, a neighbor who didn’t wish to give her last name.
“The gentleman they took out had actually been in a fight before and the police were called and I guess this time he got stabbed, but I don’t know.”
She did recognize the man as someone who lived in the basement suite of the home and was not surprised by the scene of police cars and paramedics when she turned onto her street.
“When I saw all the ambulances and when I pulled into the street I’m going: ‘I hope it’s not my house’, but it was where I thought it would have been.”
Edith says she has lived on the street for eight years and generally speaking, the tenants of that house stay to themselves.
According to police, there was a gathering inside the residence when an argument broke out and one man was hit with an unknown object to the head. He suffered minor lacerations and had to be convinced by police to be taken to the hospital.
Officers go on to say the people at the home did not provide very much information and the victim was also not helpful with the events that took place.
There are unconfirmed reports that one of the men seen leaving the house has been picked up by police. Officers also say the man taken away on the stretcher is known to them.
