Wengenmayr sentencing delayed again

Cody Wengenmayr, the Kelowna man convicted of impaired driving causing death after he struck and killed six-year-old Trey Alphonse and injured his mother, Iris Alphonse, as the two jaywalked across six lanes of traffic on highway 97, has still not been sentenced.

His sentencing was scheduled for today (Monday).

Instead, the matter was again been put forward to Friday, Jan. 25 during a short court proceeding this morning at the Kelowna Courthouse.

BC Supreme Court Justice Gregory Bowden had reserved his decision on the matter last week, and said this was something he would have to put a great deal of thought into before making a judgement.

Wengenmayr’s lawyer has asked for a sentence of 90 days, while the crown would like to see Cody in jail for three to four years.
