Backpacks for the homeless
A new homelessness awareness campaign called “Street Survival Pack” has been organized by the Metro Community. It encourages families and organizations to build a winter survival pack for people who have found themselves on the street.
The Street Survival Pack is an essential bag of items that contain the basic supplies for someone to get back on their feet. It can contain a toothbrush, toothpaste, water bottle, poncho, socks and a sleeping bag.
Each backpack can be assembled for $45 and the hope is it will make a significant impact in helping someone less fortunate rebuild his or her life. The campaign is Metro Community’s way of inviting residents to get connected to the real life situations taking shape in Kelowna’s downtown core.
To learn more about this campaign, please contact Alyssa Farr or Tom Longman at 778-478-9727.
