Nearly 100 people gathered at Global Fitness Centre Monday night in hopes of being chosen to lose it all.

In light of the new year and many people's resolution to drop a few pounds the fitness centre kicked off their 'Get It Back, Give It Back' three month fitness and weight loss challenge.

Of those who attended the introduction meeting and weigh-in session 40 to 50 people will be picked to participate.

From there, they will be divided into teams and all will have the same goal to drop 20 pounds or more.

The programs starts the week of January 14 when all applicants will receive a one month fitness membership, along with weekly training, challenges, tips and nutritional advice all valued at over $1,800.

Castanet's own, 411 operator, Jan Hugens will be participating in the challenge and hopes she can get fit and feel great before summer arrives.

"It's my goal to stand up paddle board on Okanagan Lake this year, I've always wanted to do it," says Hugens.

Hugens' daughter has also applied to be apart of the challenge in hopes the two can work together as motivation.

Last year's winner was in attendance Monday night to cheer on the new hopefuls. Anya, dropped 90 lbs during the fitness challenge and still continues to work out and get healthy.

Global Fitness will select its applicants for the program on Friday and then it's time to sweat.
