Rockets dump Cougars, streak at five
The Kelowna Rockets ran their current win streak to five Friday night beating the host Prince George Cougars 4-2 in the front half of back-to-back game in the central BC city.
Zach Franko scored what proved to be the game winner and added a pair of assists for the Rockets who have won 11 of their last 12 overall.
Myles Bell chipped in with a goal and an assist while Colton Sissons and Cody Fowlie also tallied singles.
The goal for Sissons is his third in as many games since returning to the lineup after missing 10 games with a concussion.
Jordon Cooke, the WHL goaltender of the month for December, was solid stopping 26 shots in being named the game's number one star.
The win was Cooke's 19th this season as he lowered his goals against average to 2.47.
The Rockets, 28-10-1-1, remain two points in back of BC Division leading Kamloops after the Blazers dispatched the Seattle Thunderbirds 6-1 Friday.
Kelowna concludes its two game mini-series in Prince George Saturday while the Blazers are idle.
The Blazers won't play again until Wednesday when they entertain Tri-City, the same night the Rockets put their 15 game home ice winning streak on the line against Victoria.
