A two-storey home sustained extensive damage following a fire on Friday evening in Vernon.
The blaze began in the upstairs kitchen of a home in the 5700-block of Oriole Drive, just before 6:30 p.m.
Fire crews were on scene within minutes and used an aggressive interior attack to knock it down.
The home sustained heavy smoke and fire damage to the wall, ceiling and cabinets of the kitchen.
There was no one home at the time and it is not considered to be suspicious. Fire investigators were on scene this morning to determine the cause of the blaze.
The home was rented and both tenants must find alternate accommodations while the investigation can be completed and restorations can be finished.
