Inquiry held for John in pimp dad case

The preliminary inquiry for a man accused of obtaining sexual services of a person under 18 began in a Penticton courtroom on Tuesday.

Baldev Singh Toor is one of three men, including Rick Brian Wyatt and former Penticton mayoral candidate Benny Wolfe,  who allegedly used an underage girl for sexual services in the city last year.

The crown called several witnesses, including police officers and the complainant, who cannot be named because of a publication ban.

All evidence in the inquiry is also under a ban.

The girl was pimped out by her stepfather  at a bus stop at Martin Street and Orchard Avenue in the spring and summer of 2011. The area, near the Soupateria, is known for prostitution and drug dealing, according to evidence provided at the stepfather's trial, earlier this year.

He was found guilty and is awaiting sentencing.

Wolfe pleaded guilty in June to obtaining sexual services from someone under the age of 18. He is awaiting sentencing.

A trial date is expected to be set for Toor on Jan. 7.
