Lake Country RCMP host food drive
The Lake Country RCMP were out in support of their local food bank as they invited the community down to Cram the Cruiser on Saturday.
“We’ve partnered with Coopers Foods and we’re here to support the Lake Country Food Assistance Society,” says Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey, one of the organizers.
“We’re accepting cash and non-perishable food donations for the food bank. And anybody that makes any kind of donation gets entered into a draw for prizes donated by local businesses.”
The first annual event took place in the parking lot of Cooper’s Foods from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and representatives hope to continue the tradition in the future.
“We’ve been out here since 8 a.m. and it’s been steady, we’ve already filled two vehicles,” O’Donaghey says.
“I think any donation has been beyond our expectation and we’re just glad we can get anything for the food bank and so far it’s been pretty significant.“
