Sissons hasn't played for the Rockets since suffering what the club calls an upper body injury during a 3-2 win over Moose Jaw a week ago.

He is not expected to play Saturday when the Rockets host Prince George in their final home game before Christmas.

In making the announcement Friday, Hockey Canada stated it would not be replacing Sissons at the selection camp which begins next week in Calgary.

Instead, the camp will now comprise of four goaltenders, 12 defencemen and 20 forwards.

The 23 player roster will be announced next Thursday following a three day camp.

This year's world junior tournament will be held in Russia.
