Armed robbers hit Vernon 7-11

Two teens are in police custody following an armed robbery at the 7-11 Convenience store on Middleton Way in Vernon early Saturday morning.

Police say two men wearing black hoodies, balaclavas and jeans entered the store about 1 a.m. and produced weapons.

An undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes were stolen.

"One of our police dog units attended, tracked and located one suspect a short time later," says RCMP spokesman, Gord Molendyk.

Molendyk says three young men were arrested, however, one was released.

Two Vernon teens, age 16 and 17 are expected to appear in court Monday to answer to charges of armed robbery.

"Our officers are not disclosing the weapons used in this offence at this time while they continue their investigation."
