Rockets roll to historic win
Sitting on 199 career wins, you knew it was only a matter of time before Kelowna Rockets head coach reached the 200 win plateau.
Just 13 minutes into Saturday night's game with Saskatoon, you knew it would be on this night.
The Rockets pumped in five goals in the first 12:52 and cruised to a convincing 9-2 victory over the visiting Blades before almost 5,400 fans at Prospera Place.
Myles Bell opened the scoring 28 seconds in then made it 2-0 three minutes later.
Bell would also add an assist giving him six points over the last two games and a team leading 35 points on the season.
Filip Vasko, Colton Sissons and Colton Heffley also scored in the opening frame for the Rockets who chased starting Blades netminder Andrey Makarov after four goals and 10 shots.
Alex Moodie went the rest of the way allowing five goals on 37 shots.
Rourke Chartier, Jesse Lees, Cody Fowlie and Zach Franko also scored for the Rockets who got goals from eight different players in registering their largest offensive output of the season.
Colton Martin, Dylen McKinlay and Madison Bowey all chipped in with a pair of assists.
The win was also the Rockets eighth straight on home ice trying a franchise record established during the 2007-2008 season.
They will try to establish a new club record when they host Tri-City Wednesday.
Before that, the Rockets look to cap off a perfect weekend when they travel to Everett to face the Silvertips Sunday afternoon.
