Fill a shoebox, help a child
The Kelowna chapter of Operation Christmas Child (OCC) is busy filling and sorting shoeboxes, which will soon find their way to children in Central and South America.
It’s an annual event put together by Samaritan’s Purse International Relief, a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization that has been in existence since 1970.
The shoeboxes can be filled with a variety of items such as school supplies, toys and hygiene items. A personal note or photo can also be included.
They will be shipped to Calgary to be sorted before making their way to children in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Guatemala, Guinea, Nicaragua, Paraguay
and Venezuela.
The last day to return the boxes to the Mission Creek Alliance Church is Sunday, Nov. 25 at 4 p.m.
A minimum donation of $7 is also asked for each shoebox, to help cover project costs and shipping.
