Woman arrested for 17 fake 911 calls

911, what is your emergency?  . . . Apparently there was no emergency.

A woman in Ontario is facing a mischief charge after police received more than a dozen false 911 calls.

Police in Halton Region, west of Toronto, say 17 calls were made, starting in September, and involved a wide array of fabricated emergency situations in the town of Milton.

It's alleged that the caller took a number of steps to mask the person's identity, including the use of digital voice alteration and unassigned phones.

After an investigation, police say they identified a suspect and executed a search warrant at a Milton residence on Tuesday.

Sarah Taylor, 33, of Milton is charged with public mischief.

Police say they take false or unintended 911 calls very seriously and warn they can jeopardize the safety of responding officers and other callers who have legitimate emergencies.
