APG rocks the KCT
The Kelowna Community Theater was filled to capacity last night for a one of a kind show you truly have to see to believe.
André-Philippe Gagnon, the internationally famous impressionist/comedian, is once again touring through Canada after spending ten years performing his unique act in Las Vegas. Like a fine wine, it is safe to say that since hitting it big in 1985 at Just for Laughs in Montreal, Gagnon is just getting better with age.
With no opening act, Gagnon hit the Kelowna stage running spending less than a minute thanking the crowd for coming out to support him before throwing down his first musical impression of the night, kicking off an incredible 60 years of rock and roll history in just sixty minutes.
From 1950 right through to 2010, Gagnon covered all the hits from Elvis Presley to Guns N' Roses with unbelievable perfection.
As the rock hits continued to roll on throughout the evening the energy in the room also continued to grow. It was amazing to see that over almost thirty years, André-Philippe Gagnon has not slowed down one bit. Gagnon and his team of writers have done a great job of modernizing the show by adding simple yet effective production elements with some very witty and entertaining jokes.
A highlight for the 800+ audience members was the “aPod”, Gagnon’s version of an iPod on the big screen that, when turned to shuffle, made for an unbelievably entertaining montage of songs that stirred the audience into a frenzy.
Closing out the show with his famous saxophone impression of the Pink Panther theme song, Gagnon received the standing ovation he deserved from the capacity crowd.
It is this sort of world class entertainment that has helped keep the Kelowna Community Theatre so successful and popular over its fifty years in Kelowna. Look forward to more incredible entertainment from this great venue before the year is out and if you missed this hilarious show then be sure to catch the next one when the Just for Laughs Tour stops at KCT on Sunday November 25th, headlined by SNL alum Jim Breuer.
