Rocktober Wrap
Nov 2, 2012 / 7:00 pm
Yes, I Know it is the first weekend of November, however I thought a Rocktober Wrap was in order! Most in the rock world are getting ready for what promises to be a very active 2013, what with announced plans for the fiftieth anniversary of the Rolling Stones, the release of ‘Celebration Day’ from Led Zepplin and the impending World Tour of Aerosmith, celebrating their new studio album…Rocktober is the launch month and the classic year will be 2013! The following are some more interesting tidbits that had their start this October: “Music From Another Dimension”, the new Aerosmith album is set to hit the streets! The group are currently on tour, and will continue to hit the world stages in 2013. The album, apparently, is a throw back to their seventies output, with some modern turns thrown in…at the very least, it should be interesting.
Rocktober has also seen David Coverdale preparing a new live set for release, on both DVD and CD. The package should see the light of day in early 2013 or at the very optimistic view: late December. David is also working on a revision of his superb Solo release “Into the Light”, first heard in 2000.
Meat Loaf, yes! Meat Loaf released an extravagant package in October: “Guilty Pleasure Tour” deluxe edition of DVD/CD with extensive notes in a booklet form. The DVD contains an extensive documentary on Meat Loaf, this would be a wonderful set under that Christmas tree!!
The ex vocalist for Nightwish, Tarja has released “Act 1”…a double live CD package. New studio effort is set for early 2013.
October has also seen new material from Chris Robinson, ex-Black Crowes, with “The Majic Door”, and the lead guitarist of Bon Jovi has released a solo effort: Richie Sambora, “Aftermath Of the Lowdown”.
Heart has released a very strong set of music in “Fanatic”; these famous sisters have stepped beyond their boundaries, and stirred up a fantastical spectrum of sound on this new studio exercise!
This Roctober has seen many new releases, and of course, new music from Classic Rock Artists will spill over in to November. The significance of Rocktober 2012, is the amount of music that is either released or preparing to be released from veteran Rockers all over the world! From the Loverboys to the Stones, this October’s news and events only foreshadows the year coming up! 2013 will be the Classic Rock year of record…prepare to enjoy!
