Letters to the editor

Affordability still an issue

To the editor:

After reading that our mayor states the cost of living in Kelowna is not unaffordable, it makes me wonder where these people come from.

I would like to know how many young couples the mayor is really close friends with, those close enough to confide in him and tell him how they have to live on wieners and beans, if they can get it from the food bank.

I am over sixty, and I cannot believe the absolute ignorance of such people.

Maybe they worked very hard for everything they have, but don't sit on a high horse and tell others how wonderful things are, when in fact they are not.

Remember this, right now we are raising a generation of young people who feel that the world owes them a living.

Most parents have been a way to indulgent with their kids in the last 25 or 30 years and they are just now starting to see what's happened.

A lot of these 20 to 30 year-olds are not independent enough to survive, and certainly not in Kelowna, where we in fact, we certainly do pay a sunshine tax.
