Morphs, monsters minus the mayhem
Fright night is here and, since tonight is forecast to be dark and stormy, it's important to ensure trick or treaters are fully prepared.
Cst. Kris Clark says kids should choose bright clothing or add reflective stripes to their costumes to ensure they are visible as they go door to door.
"Use sidewalks and crosswalks instead of zig zagging across the road. Go to houses that are well lit, don't go to houses that don't have any lights on. Don't go into the woods or that kind of thing. And use the buddy system, never go trick or treating by yourself."
Parents should also be cautious to check the goodie bags when children return home.
Although Clark says it seems like an urban myth to check over candy to make sure no dangerous items are inside, it is still important to do so because you never know if something harmful was placed in the bag.
If you are looking for last minute accessories to add to children's costumes, Spirit Halloween has glow sticks and flash lights which will help to ensure they are seen by motorists.
Owner of Spirt Halloween Cheryl Holmes says they still have a wide arraignment of costumes for last minute shoppers.
This year's top sellers are the morphsuit, similar to what the Canucks green men wear.
"This year they have gone one step further (with these suits) and they made them with little machines inside them and they will blow them up like giant balloons," says Holmes.
For girls, the number one costume is 'Monster High.'
Adult costumes that are popular this year include, sexy monsters for ladies and zombies for men.
For those wanting an alternative to the traditional door to door Halloween the First Lutheran Church and School is offering 'Trunk or Treat' where a parking lot of cars is turned into a neighbourhood filled with candy, and children can be in a safe environment.
