Fashion show stays local

Fashion Show/Fundraiser Wild Heart Stays Local

Last month I was able to bring you a story about CATO's fashion show after the event (http://www.castanet.net/news/Kelowna/81058/A-runway-of-fashion-in-Kelowna).

This week I want to draw your attention to another fashion show/fundraiser happening in Kelowna on Nov 16th. Local community-based arts & culture blog Awesome Okanagan and local salon Loyal Hair Therapy present “Wild Heart,” a 2012 Fall/Winter Fashion Show with heart. The Fashion Show will be utilizing local talent for production, clothes, hair, makeup and services. Working with a new local clothing store Man + Woman, the event will  raise money for H.O.P.E. Outreach.

H.O.P.E. Outreach (Helping Out People Exploited) is a volunteer based organization that was established in Kelowna in 2008. They are a growing organization that provides night-time outreach to homeless and/or sexually exploited women in the downtown core.

They've crafted a beautiful promotional video produced by always uber creative, Brandon William Fletcher:

Wild Heart from Awesome Okanagan on Vimeo.

Doors open at 8pm, come early for the Jail Bird Art Show 2 which will still be on display during Wild Heart.

The Jail Bird Residency Series is an artist in residence program at The Habitat. The artist is offered studio space and a small budget for one month during which they create works for the walls of the Habitat. There will be a live auction featuring swag from awesome local businesses.

Tickets are available at Leo's Video (2680 Pandosy St), Mosaic Books (411 Bernard Avenue) & Loyal Hair Therapy (102-2106 Harvey Avenue) and online at http://estore.thehabitat.ca

About the Author

Ryan Donn
(singer/songwriter, event producer, digital creative, connector)

I love creating and connecting. For years I spent most of my time in Kelowna creating songs. Those songs have been used by the Terry Fox Run, Kelowna’s Centennial Celebration, or heard on various local radio stations.

In the past few years I've focused on creating community events including Music in the Park, New York New Years, Castanet’s Free Family Skate, Talented Kids, Talented Kelowna, etc.

I use this column to connect some of our local creatives, events, unique local projects, or timely entertainment information.

Originally from Scotland I’ve lived in Kelowna for over 20 years.  My wife, Kimberly, and our two daughters, Lyla and Bella, share our home with Tom (adult with diverse abilities).
