Rockets goalie number one in CHL

Jordon Cooke is number one.

The Canadian Hockey League said today the Kelowna Rockets netminder is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending October 21.

Last week, Cooke  posted a 2-0-0-0 record including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .967.

Cooke made 59 saves between the pipes for the Rockets in a pair of victories including a 32-save performance on Thursday where he recorded his second shutout of the season as first star of a 3-0 win over the Prince George Cougars.  He then made 27 saves on Saturday as second star of a 4-2 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings.

A 19-year-old from Leduc, AB, Cooke is playing in his third WHL season with the Rockets. 

In 11 games so far this season he carries a 5-5-1-0 record with a goals-against-average of 3.19 and save percentage of .901.

Also considered for the award this week was Matt Mahalak of the Plymouth Whalers who posted three wins with a goals-against-average of 2.00 and save percentage of .924, while rookie Philippe Desrosiers of the Rimouski Oceanic went 1-2-0-0 with a shutout victory and a goals-against-average of 2.15 and save percentage of .935.
