Update: Two killed in Peachland crash
Oct 19, 2012 / 1:02 am
Update: The driver, a 20-year-old Peachland man and one of his passengers, a 17-year-old West Kelowna girl are dead following a single vehicle roll over.
The crash is reported to have left a 19-year-old Peachland man in serious condition and a 16-year-old West Kelowna girl in critical condition. They remain at Kelowna General Hospital with no update on their status currently available.
The incident occurred sometime before 11:00 p.m. Thursday night.
RCMP Sgt. Brian Nightingale says the 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck was travelling west on Princeton Avenue at the time of the crash.
Nightingale says it appears the truck came off the curve, spun in a counterclockwise rotation and rolled two or three times before it landed upside down.
He says speed relative to conditions may have been a factor.
"It is a gravel road and you have a lot of washboarding. When you are coming off a curve you have a lateral acceleration you need to be able to deal with. He wasn't able to do that and he started to rotate," says Nightingale.
Cst. Kris Clark reports that investigators have now learned that no one was wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
