Heat golfers stay on top at nationals

The UBC-Okanagan Heat women's golf team has extended their lead at the 2012 Ping CCAA National Golf Championship.
After taking a six stroke lead on day one, the team of Jen Woods, Jessica Kozak and Alana Kent extended their lead to 15 strokes with a combined round of 165, posting the best score among the nine teams competing for the second straight day.
Their two round total of 327 gives them a sizeable edge over Holland College who are second at 342.
The Grant MacEwan University Griffins moved into third after posting the second best total of the day. Their second round 166 gives them a two day total of 345, 18 strokes behind UBCO.
Individually, Woods fired a second round 78 and her two round total of 157 has her in fourth place with one round left.
She trails second round leader Elizabeth Asselin of CÉGEP de Lévis-Lauzon by 9 strokes heading into the final day.
Kozak is in 11th after her round of 90 on Thursday left her with a 36 hole total of 173, two ahead of Kent, who sits at 175.
The UBCO men's team has two players competing in the individual event and both remain in the top ten after two days.
Cody Bell fired a 1-over 73 to move into a tie for sixth with two round total of 147. William Deck shot a 2-over 74 and is one shot back of Bell at 148.
The final round of the championships will be played on Friday at the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club.
