Overly potent drugs worry police
Oct 18, 2012 / 11:04 am
Kelowna RCMP have issued a warning after receiving information that may indicate there is an overly potent batch of synthetic drugs in town.
RCMP say there may be a quantity of GHB (Gamma hydroxybutyrate), Crystal Meth (Methamphetamine), and other synthetic drugs circulating in town right now which appear to be extremely potent, and therefore extremely dangerous.
"There is no such thing as a 'bad batch' of synthetic drugs, because there is no good batch," said Cst. Kris Clark Thursday morning. "Every tablet or dose represents a potentially serious health risk whether that be short term or long term."
"Synthetic drugs are produced in facilities with no quality control or sanitation control. There is no way to know what you are eating when you swallow a tablet. Every person can react differently to the chemicals, and there is no guarantee or assurance as to what that reaction might be."
The RCMP warn residents who suspect drug activity in their neighbourhoods, or have information about the production or sale of drugs, not to investigate but to contact police.
