Jackson Whistle got his first win in his first start as a Kelowna Rocket Friday, leading his club to a 4-1 victory in Victoria.
Whistle stopped 20 of 21 shots directed his way, allowing only a last minute goal from Mitch Deacon at the end of the second period.
He turned aside all 10 shots he faced in the third period to preserve the victory.
Zach Franko, Henrik Nyberg, Colton Sissons and Damon Severson on the power-play, all scored for the Rockets.
Myles Bell picked up a pair of assists giving him a team leading 11 helpers and 16 points.
The Rockets played their best road game of the season in Victoria holding the high flying Royals to just the single goal.
Kelowna also held the Royals off the scoresheet on all seven power-play opportunities.
The Rockets scored once in five power-play chances.
Kelowna outshot the Royals 31-21 on the night.
The two teams play again Saturday in Victoria as the Rockets look for back-to-back road wins for the first time this season.
Following Saturday's game the Rockets return home to host Prince George Thursday and Brandon Saturday.
